What makes us interesting?

Jaebria, in her essay she writes about her experience with writing. She used to struggle with writing. She had a concept on her mind that she was ready to write but once it was time to write them on paper she froze. She did not know what to write or even how to start. Her purpose in writing this essay was to show how it can be a struggle to do something in general. That nothing is going to be perfect at the start and it’s always better to first do it and then plan another way to be better. She uses an optimistic tone and informal tone to engage the reader and know her story. She hopes that people will understand that not everything is perfect.

Interview:

Q: What do you think is the greatest skill in literature?

A: The most important thing is being determined to learn. It is about trying hard to get to that goal. English literature is harder to learn than any other subject. You have to know what you are writing about and if it makes sense. In literature you basically have to have a composure to it.

Q: If you were to write on the spot what would be the thing you will write about?

A: The thing I would write about would be linguistics. The words you choose change the tone of the story. The type of english you choose is how people would interpret you or even judge you. The emotion also changes the sentence. The way you view people is also important. If you write a certain way people would say you were not taught well then if you write in a professional way, people would also say that ‘why is she trying to be like that’. No matter what type of tone or words you use, everyone has a different perspective in acknowledging it.

Q: Till this day do you still feel like you stumble with your words? Or stumble while writing an essay?

A: I say I still find it hard to write a first draft. It’s hard to keep on writing and writing. Finding a way to get organized is something that I need to work on. Knowing what comes next, trying to write what is on my mind and putting them to words that makes sense and knowing what I am writing about. I don’t want to keep writing nonsense or getting stuck on my paper.

Q: Do you think Ms. Young had a huge impact on you/ your writing?

A: She had a huge impact because she wanted me to be the best in literature. She showed me that I write differently than other people. Her telling me her experience as a writer made me realize that I had to challenge myself instead of thinking that I didn’t know how to write. I needed to challenge myself to become a better writer.

Q: What was your goal in writing this essay?

A: I wanted to show people how everyone wants to be perfect but in reality everyone has their own way of doing things. Like in writing, everyone has different tones, everyone has different ways in structuring, different ways planning how they are going to write. Not everyone’s essay or writing will be the same. Everyone has their own pace and not only can you restart, you can keep on trying to find the perfect way to write in our perspective.
